RATE STRUCTURE

The rates shown here are the wholesale rates charged by Metropolitan Water District to its member agencies. Many of these member agencies are wholesalers themselves. Your water likely “flows” through three agencies: Metropolitan, an MWD member agency and your local retailer. Each adds its own cost of doing business.

Metropolitan’s rate structure is somewhat complex. Several years ago MWD “unbundled” its rates into the various components that make up the total rate. There are at least 8 components making up the total rate plus, if you look at your property tax bill, you will also find Metropolitan Water District has ad valorem taxing authority. For more detailed information, visit MWD’s website at www.mwdh2o.com/mwdh2o/pages/finance/finance_03.html. Remember that these are wholesale rates and only indicate the magnitude of future increases.

  • The full service rate for treated water is $453 an acre-foot through the end of 2006.
  • The full service rate for treated water will increase to $478 an acre-foot effective January 1, 2007.
  • The rate for Interruptible Agricultural Water Program (IAWP) water is $339 an acre foot through the end of 2006.
  • The rate for IAWP water will increase to $364 an acre-foot effective January 1, 2007.
Check the websites of your MWD member agency and/or your local retailer to see how those wholesale rates translate to the rate you pay.
